About VERA
Vera Spirits was founded by Slovenian Luka Nagode in partnership with Urška Dvoraček and Jernej Peterlin. Nagode first had the idea of expanding his restaurateur business into the booming spirits industry, but soon changed his mind. Vera was to become a non-alcoholic spirits brand that would invoke the same sense of ceremony as those of regular distilled spirits. He sees a future in these drinks not as substitutes, but within a category of their own. Premium, alcohol-free drinks, served in lavish glasses with garnishes and mixers, meant to be enjoyed by anyone.
This is how the personality of Vera came to be. Even though the bottles feature a depiction of Nagode’s partner Urška and they have a daughter named Vera, the Vera from Vera Spirits is a made-up lady, a “scholar and a diplomat’s wife”. Her father owned a distillery and taught her about the 5 flavor components: “core, fresh, heat, spice, and floral”. She realized how these translate into human qualities. The flavor profiles crafted by Vera are supposedly representations of individuals she met during her travels.
The botanicals for Vera Spirits are outsourced, meaning that they can secure the finest local ingredients when they are in season, with the pure spring water coming from the Alps. The non-alcoholic spirits are then produced via maceration and vapor infusion. The first involves cooking the botanicals in a still, the second has them place the botanicals in the path of the vapor coming off the still. Finally, the “distillates” are blended together, filtered, pasteurized, and bottled.
